Bartholomew and the Oobleck

This Friday we got to go to Room 9 and we read the book "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" By Dr Suess. We then got to make Oobleck (Gloop).
We needed the following materials:
• cornflour
• food colouring
• water
• bowl

It felt really strange. Cornflour is made of stringy particles that do not dissolve in water but do spread themselves out. This means that oobleck acts like liquid and a solid. When you roll the mixture or apply pressure it feels solid because the particles join together. But once is it left to rest or is help up the particle slide over each others and it feels like a liquid.
